"Burn Baby, Burn" - America's New Pyromanics

I remember, "Burn Baby, Burn!", the radical cry in the Los Angeles race riots during the fire-raising in Watts, California on August 11, 1965. Today, however, there is a new cry...

If a man yells “Allahu Ackbar” in a forest and no one is there to hear him, is it still an act of jihad? The surprise answer is "Maybe", read on...

Yosemite Rim Fire Wildfire

"Wildfires in the American West have become more common lately – it's not our imagination. Federal fire figures show that an average of 7.6 million acres were scorched each year between 2004 and 2012, up from 3.6 million acres annually in the 20 years before that", Reuters reports. Our National Security and Federal Land Management programs are in a war on these issues about our national forests.

The devout Muslim group, al-Qaeda, has long urged the setting of forest fires as a form of jihad (holy war). Spring 2012: al-Qaeda's English-language online magazine, 'Inspire', published an article called "It Is of Your Freedom to Ignite a Firebomb," which featured instructions on how to build an incendiary bomb to light forests on fire.

Now we’re seeing 'fire jihad' where one terrorist group Palestinian jihadist group, Masada al Mujahideen, has recently claimed credit for the ongoing wildfires in Arizona and California in 2013.

Masada al Mujahideen, recently claimed credit for ongoing wildfires in Arizona in a statement posted to jihadist forums on July 3, 2013:

"We had previously announced an unconventional war against the occupation state of Israel, and then we escalated this war to reach its main supporter, America, so that it receives a major share of it, which will destroy their flora and fauna, with permission from Allah and then with our hands," the group said.

Their claims have been more braggadocio and very specious up to the present. The jihadist group has claimed credit for more than a dozen fires in Israel since 2010 too. However, as the terrorist groups observe how the Obama government handles mid-East politics, that may change their tactics for the worse in the American homeland.

Authorities contradict Masada al-Mujahideen's claims, saying that they believe the Arizona fires were actually started by lightning. "This is a nightmare scenario for firefighting: thunderstorms producing little rainfall, unpredictable, shifting winds, and, of course, lightning strikes," Weather Channel meteorologist Jon Erdman had said.

Yosemite Firestorm on Groveland RoadThe huge wildfire in and around Yosemite National Park was caused by an illegal fire set by a hunter, the United States Forest Service said on Thursday, September 5, 2013. No arrests have been made, and the hunter’s name was not released. The forest service gave no details on how the fire in a remote canyon of the Stanislaus National Forest had escaped the hunter’s control.

So, it looks more like the Masada al-Mujahideen are planting ideas, ideas that could spread like wildfire through minds which is what terrorism is all about, the fear of threats rather than actions. Sadly, Americans have all the watches, but the jihadists have all the time with an unpredictable timetable for untimely attacks which further elevates the anxieties of uncertainty--people on edge waiting for the next shoe to drop.

Currently due to restrictions preserving the natural habitat for the Northern Spotted Owl, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, directives will not allow logging in forests in order to thin out crowded timberlands or controlled fire burns to remove thick underbrush for forest fire management in forestry. The EPA absolutely ignores and sidesteps the natural ecological evolution in the life cycle of forests allowing for fires to scour and cleanse them of crowded dense timber, dead debris while activating seedlings and creating rich topsoil to rejuvenate the flora and fauna in a contiguous living system for natural reforestation.

EPA Regulations, overall, are destroying our national parks. The major negative impact onYosemite wildfires burning dead saplings and dry underbrush as forest trees burn down to the ground our forests have created densely tree populated terrain with thick underbrush. Consequently, there is insufficient water to sustain all of the growth. Limited forest sunlight due to large trees with branches of shady leafy canopies block smaller saplings and bushes below so that they wither and die creating highly combustible fuel waiting for a flash point. When it ignites there is so much ample kindling and timber it is virtually impossible to immediately extinguish or even remotely contain it. The irony here is that the Spotted Owl habitat is destroyed along with the species, other indigenous animals and the surrounding environment--and this is the federal government's EPA Land Management Resources Dept. leading the way with the U.S. Forest Service to protect and preserve our environment?
